STYLETS FOR INTUBATION

The Stylet for Intubation is indicated as an auxiliary device during endotracheal tube application maneuvers.
Its purpose is to facilitate the introduction of these tubes into the airway, especially:
– in coordinated patients:
. with a much anterior larynx (Cormack-Lehane III or IV)
– in patients in emergency circumstances:
. with the possibility of cervical injury that requires intubation with cervical stabilization in line
with a reduction in laryngoscopic vision of the glottis
. with a full stomach that requires a rapid sequence induction and therefore immediate
access to the airway;
. with ventilatory deterioration, requiring urgent endotracheal intubation.
The intubation mandrel should be placed within the lumen of the endotracheal tube with the following precautions:
– the flexible end must be positioned towards the distal end of the tube;
– should not exceed the distal end to avoid soft tissue injury.
